The Red Planet Bicycle Collective will teach people of all ages and backgrounds how to repair bicycles. Through bike repair and bicycle related projects, the collective will promote personal development and provide leadership opportunities. Operating as a cooperative shop, we'll provide affordable ways to acquire and maintain a bike, offer youth programs, encourage re-use and recycling, and work with community groups to get more people on bicycles.

Food should taste good. Eating should be fun. Healthy food can be delicious and enjoyable. Knowing what’s in our food and where it comes from can make for a more satisfying meal. Supporting local farmers and producers helps our local economy and culture to thrive. Doing the weekly shopping doesn’t have to be a drag. Although it’s more fun if done in drag.

At PFC, we offer natural foods and other healthy products that are free of chemical preservatives and coloring.  In selecting which products to carry, we give preference to foods that are minimally processed and packaged, organically grown, fairly traded, cooperatively produced and locally sourced.

A cooperative is defined by the International Co-operative Alliance as “an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.”

To put it simply, a co-op is any group of people who pool their resources to get what they need. Co-ops are controlled and equally co-owned by their members, and operate by the seven International Cooperative Principles and summarized below:

  • Voluntary and open membership
  • Democratic member control
  • Members economic participation
  • Autonomy and independence
  • Education, training and information
  • Cooperation among cooperatives
  • Concern for community
